PGA Championship
The United States PGA Championship is an annual golf tournament put on by the Professional Golfers Association of America.  The PGA is one of the four major championships in men’s golf, and is traditionally played the fourth weekend after the British Open Championship.  The first PGA Championship was held in 1916 at Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, New York.  The winner, Jim Barnes, took home $500.  In 2006, the winner, Tiger Woods, took home $1.224 million.

PGA winners are automatically invited to play in the other three majors -- the Masters, the U.S. Open, and the British Open -- for the subsequent five years following a win.  They are also eligible to play the PGA Championship, without qualifying, for life.  The maximum number of golfers invited to play is 156, and while all top 50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings are inevitably invited to play, the PGA Championship is the only major that automatically grants them an invitation.
